Fernie Alpine Resort

Mountain biking in Fernie BC is legendary. It has an extensive web of cross-country trails that is second to none. Add that to the fact that Fernie Alpine Resort has one of the largest lift-accessed trail networks in Western Canada, and it's easy to see why Fernie is the perfect mountain biking destination.

Fernie Alpine Resort (www.skifernie.com/summer) has variety of 37 bike trails that offers something for everyone. Wide machine-made flowing trails for beginner / intermediate riders, challenging steep and technical single track trails for advanced / expert riders. Set in a beautiful mountain landscape of the Lizard Range, and with the beautiful Elk river winding through town, Fernie offers a wide range of summer activities. Fernie is located in the south-east corner of the B.C. Rockies on Highway No.3 approximately 60 km (40 miles) from the Alberta and U.S. borders. Fernie Alpine Resort is 5 km (3 miles) from the City of Fernie and only 1.5 km up the hill from the highway intersection. (See location map here).

  • 5. MIX IT UP! Go for a cross country ride and test your mettle on one of the local's favorite rides - Hyper-Ventilation, Dem Bones, or Swine Flu.
  • 4. Dip your feet into the Elk river at the end of the day to cool off - watch locals tube by!
  • 3. Raft the Elk River Canyon with Canyon Raft Co. or Mountain High River Adventures.
  • 2. Take a stroll down picturesque 2nd Avenue. Grab a coffee, grab a brew, or check out some of the funky stores in town like Giv'er Shirtworks, Ghostrider Trading, Carosella, The Guide's Hut, Freyja, and Polar Peek to name few.

Rentals & Services

Our on-mountain Rental shop offers SCOTT full suspension bikes (for both adults and children), protective gear (arm & leg padding, chest protection), and full face helmets. Also check out the several bike shops along 2nd Avenue for a variety of bike rentals.
